Laune Rangers B 0-9, Glenbeigh/Glencar 1-18

Laune Rangers B hosted Glenbeigh/Glencar on Sunday afternoon in round 2 of this year’s Mid Kerry Senior League, Group A.

A tit-for-tat first half saw Glenbeigh/Glencar hold a one-point lead at the short whistle. The visitors introduced plenty experience off the bench for the second half and pushed on to win comfortably in the end.  John Burke opened the first half scoring with a point for the home side in the 1st minute. This was soon cancelled out by a Seán Quirke effort for Glenbeigh/Glencar. Adrian O’Connor slotted over a free for the visitors in the 5th minute before corner forward Kieran Courtney added his name to the scoresheet with 8 minutes played, to let the score 0-03 to 0-01. John Burke added a free for the home side in the 13th minute when Mikey O’Sullivan was fouled before Matthew Leslie fired over another free mid-way through the half to level the game at 0-03 apiece.

Glenbeigh/Glencar went ahead once more in the 16th minute with a point from play from the boot of Caolim Teahan before Teahan popped over a free in the 17th minute to extend their lead back out the two points. Laune Rangers replied with a well taken effort from Matthew Leslie before Roan Moriarty levelled the game once more in the 19th minute. Kieran Doyle added the final point of the half for the visitors to let the score at the short whistle; Laune Rangers B 0-05 to 0-06 Glenbeigh/Glencar.

Glenbeigh/Glencar introduced the experienced firing power of Colin McGillycuddy, Gavan O’Grady and Pa Kilkenny for the second half, with all three players making an instant impact, on the field and the scoreboard.  Noel Falvey opened the second half scoring in the 1st minute of play. This was followed by a Caolim Teahan pointed free when Gavan O’Grady was fouled, to let the score 0-08 to 0-05 in the visitor’s favour. Laune Rangers’ Morgan O’Sullivan saw his shot at goal pushed over the bar for a point and it was a two-point game once more. Gavan O’Grady added three frees for Glenbeigh/Glencar in the minutes that followed before Colin McGillycuddy added his name to the scoresheet in the 12th minute and suddenly it was double scores, 0-12 to 0-06 in Glenbeigh/Glencar’s favour. Matthew Leslie and Gavan O’Grady swapped scores soon after before a great effort from Kieran Courtney saw the game stand at 0-14 to 0-07 in the visitor’s favour mid-way through the second half.

Cian O’Shea fired over a free for Laune Rangers in the 18th minute before Caolim Teahan went through for the game’s only goal in 19th minute, leaving Jake Reenstierna in the Laune Rangers’ goal no chance. Caolim Teahan and Morgan O’Sullivan swapped points in following minutes before Glenbeigh/Glencar finished strongly, with points from Gavan O’Grady, Jack Brosnan and Seán Quirke to let the score at the final whistle:- Laune Rangers B 0-09, Glenbeigh/Glencar 1-18.
