Match Report

Laune Rangers C:              4-09 (21)

Fossa C:                                5-09 (24)

Laune Rangers hosted Fossa on Saturday evening last in round 4 of the Development League. In a tit-for-tat battle, it was Fossa who went home with the spoils after a fantastic battle at a sun-soaked J.P. O’Sullivan Park.

Despite being round 4, Laune Rangers have only played one game in this year’s competition – the drawn game with Rathmore – as Kerins O’Rahilly’s subsequently withdrew and conceded their game, while Rangers had a bye in round 3.

In a pretty level first half, Laune Rangers got off to a great start leading 1-6 to 1-1 at the midway point – the goal coming from Adam Owens who got himself into a dropping Colm O’Shea long-range free, along with points from Mike F. Russell (mark), Callum Russell (3), Colm O’Shea and Cian O’Shea. Fossa slotted home four goals in the latter part of the half to close Laune Rangers’ lead to the minimum by the half-time interval, 3-07 to 4-03 – Laune Rangers’ two goals coming from a bullet from Timmy Walsh & another Adam Owens effort with our point coming from Callum Russell.

Fossa took the lead early in the second half but a Cian O’Shea goal and a Kevin Flynn point swung the lead back in the home side’s favour. A point from Mikey O’Sullivan pushed Rangers’ lead out to two points going into the last 10 minutes however that was to be the hosts’ final point of the evening. Fossa closed the game with a further goal and two points to take the win

Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 4-9, Fossa 5-9
