The senior men are preparing for the Kerry Petroleum Intermediate Football championship replay which is now being played on November 9th (Saturday) in Fitzgerald Stadium at 1.30pm.

U15 Boys: As the saying goes goals win matches and that was certainly the case for U15 Blue team today as they met Keel/Listry in Mid Kerry U15 Cup Final sponsored by Richard Boyle & Sons. In what was a thrilling high scoring affair with 8 goals and 28 points scored between the teams.

Keel/Listry went into an early lead with a point from play and was followed up when Killian Fitzgerald converted a placed ball. In the 5th minute, Charlie Foley opened Laune Rangers scoring when he weaved his way through Keel/Listry defence and rattled the back of the net. Daragh O’Sullivan followed seconds later with a point from play. Keel/Listry followed with another point from play when their no 12 reacted quickest after the ball came off the post. Odhran Foley then struck for Laune Rangers second goal when he received a pass from Hugh O’Sullivan. Kealan Riordan and Mikey Hynes exchanged points for their respective sides. Keel/Listry then added two points with a placed ball from Killian Fitzgerald and a point from play by Sean Clifford. But Laune Rangers finished the half stronger with 2 additional points – Mikey Hynes getting his second and Conor Murphy

Half time Laune Rangers 2-4 (10), 0-7 (7) – up by 3 points.

Second half commenced and Keel/Listry opened the scoring Killian Fitzgerald converting a free and moments later Keel/Listry rattled Laune Rangers net twice within 3 minutes. Mikey Hynes kicked two points one from play and a placed ball. Laune Rangers introduced Kieran Patton 10 minutes in the second half and ten minutes later he received a pass from Darragh McKenna and cooly slotted into Keel/Listry net. Darragh McKenna then added his name to score sheet with a point from play. Keel/Listry then converted two placed balls to force the game to extra time. It was still all to play for.

Full-time Laune Rangers 3-07 (16), 2-10(16) – Level

Keel/Listry were awarded a penalty early into 1st period of extra time which was well take, Keel/Listry followed this with a point from play – going 4 points up at this stage. However the young men from the Laune didn’t drop their heads and finishing the first period of extra strongly with Kieran Patton scoring his second goal of the afternoon with a bullet of a shot.

Half-Time: Laune Rangers 4-8 (20), Keel/Listry 3-12(21)

Second period of extra time and Laune Rangers won the throw in and drove forward with Hugh O’Sullivan, Daragh O’Sullivan, Kieran Patton and Conor Murphy all kicking points from play. Keel/Listry kicked another point before Kieran Patton struck for his third goal of the day. Keel/Listry kicked a point but Laune Rangers were not finished in their scoring efforts and Kieran Patton kicked Laune Rangers final point for the winning side. The opposition added another point before referee Tom Corbett blew the fulltime whistle.

Full-Time: Laune Rangers 5-13 (28), Keel/Listry 3-15 (24).

Fantastic occasion for joint captains Odhran Foley and Darragh O’Sullivan who were presented with Thomas Healy Memorial Perpetual Cup by Julie Healy. The team displayed tremendous work rate and determination throughout today’s game and it was a great finish to their season on a high with several players moving up to minor grade next year.

HEALTHY CLUBS

Healthy Clubs: Healthy Clubs Committee are busy organising some events for the off-season.

  • 19th November Laune Rangers are hosting safeTALK – a suicide prevention talk in the clubhouse at 6.30pm. Please text 0876497469 to register your interest – places are limited.
  • 29th November – Oisín McConville will give a talk to club members from 1st year upwards, other speakers are being finalised, all details will be confirmed by end of the week.
  • Christmas Gift Initiative for St Joseph’s Home – 4th year running this initiative, where you organise a gift for a resident in St Joseph’s Home or for a local person who attends the Killorglin Day Care Centre or Ard Alainn. If you wish to get involved, please contact Katrina 087 6497469.

TABLE QUIZ

The time and date is set for Annual Table Quiz, organised by Laune Rangers LGFA. It will be held on Friday night, 8th November, at 9pm in Bunkers – plenty of time for preparation.

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Laune Rangers GAA are starting to prepare for next season, if you are interested in interested in volunteering within the Club for the coming year in some capacity.  This may involve helping out at boys/girls academies sessions, becoming part of a coaching team, helping out on match day – stewarding, operating the scoreboard, gate collection; female liaison officer, helping with PR activities, lotto and other fundraisers.

The club will be starting the process of safeguarding and coaching courses for the winter.  These are now a requirement for anyone volunteering with children, once this is completed it is valid for 3 years.

Scór na nÓg & Scór na bPáistí will be returning.

There are eight disciplines in Scór that cover all aspects of Irish culture: Figure/Céilí Dancing, Solo Singing, Ballad Group, Recitation/Scéalaíocht, Nuachleas/Novelty Act, Instrumental Music, Set Dancing and Table Quiz.

The competion is open to all young people under 17.

If you are not a member for GAA purposes there is social membership also available.
