ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
The Annual General Meeting of the Laune Rangers Club will took place on Friday evening last at our clubrooms in JP O’Sullivan Park. After a six year tenure, Mary Quirke stepped down as Chairperson of the club. Laune Rangers wishes to sincerely thank Mary for all the work she has put in since taking the role in 2017. Aidan Clifford, after a nine year stint as PRO of the club, was elected as Chairperson. We were also delighted to elect Jerome Conway as President of the club. Jerome takes over from Barth Moriarty, who was honoured with lifetime membership of the club last night. Many thanks to Barth who held the position of President with great pride. Ger Counihan stepped down as Finance Officer. We owe great thanks to Ger who has led the fundraising side of the club for so many years. A presentation of a framed picture of the 2022 All Ireland winning Kerry team was made to Ger to thank him for his years of trojan work.
CHRISTMAS BOXES
This weekend saw Laune Rangers deliver 52 care packs to St Joseph’s Nursing Home – a present for each resident and few to spare for respite rooms that will be in use over the Christmas period. Members from across the club proceeded to the day room where the residents were serenaded by our members. It was fantastic to see this happening post Covid and hopefully it will become a must in the Laune Rangers calendar. The remaining boxes were delivered to the Tom O’Donnell Day Care centre on Tuesday and a few have also been provided to local people on the Meals on Wheels route. 20 boxes were also delivered to Ard Alainn (HSE run centre in conjunction with Killorglin Mental Health Association) in advance of their Christmas Dinner last Friday. This year saw the organisers exceed last years number of care packs (68) that were collected, this year it was 120 at last count and possibly another couple on the way. This would not be feasible without the help of James the Barber and Selina in Leaf and Larder who provided a drop off point for those that were not able to make the night at the club house, Paul Russell for transporting, Adrian Hassett Auctioneers and Slogadh Signs. The ladies that helped out on the night at the clubhouse and all the people who made a care pack and included their children. This will help our children learn about their community and people residing in it. Thanks to Katrina Stack who organised such a fantastic initiative.
RACE NIGHT
The 2022 Laune Rangers Race Night has been postponed for a few weeks. It will take place in late January – more news on that in the coming weeks!
NATIONAL CLUB DRAW
The National Club Draw for 2023 has been launched, and the top prize being drawn on 15th March is an all new Dacia Duster. With €2,000 cash and some great All Ireland Final packages up for grabs, it’s not to be missed. All monies collected by the club will be kept by the club so it is also a great fundraising opportunity also!
