Moyvane 3-10, Laune Rangers B 1-12
Laune Rangers B travelled to Moyvane on Sunday afternoon in search of a win that would have helped them stay in Division 5 of the County League but, despite a spirited second half showing they came away just short. Moyvane had a good start and had 1-2 registered in the first 10 minutes before Rangers kicked their first point from an ageless Mike Frank Russell. Callum Russell was dominating midfield during the first half but Moyvane’s defence proved dogged throughout.
Half Time Score:- Moyvane 2-7, Laune Rangers 0-5.
Daniel Evans came in at the start of the second half for his competitive debut in the adult grade and he brought some much needed aggression around the half back line. After Moyvane slotted a third goal five minutes into the half it looked ominous but Russell, Cian O Shea and Eamonn Carey kept the scoreboard ticking over. Tony Lyons made a point blank save and the resulting ball was quickly moved down the field where Carey finished to the net to bring reduce the gap to four points. Cian O Shea went through one on one with the Moyvane keeper with 5 minutes to go but the keeper made a great reflex save, and so went Rangers chance of salvaging something from the game.

Overall, Laune Rangers will have been happy with the second half but left themselves with too much to do in the first half. It was good to see David Costelloe back in the Rangers blue after being out for a year with an injury.
