Milltown/Castlemaine 2-10, Laune Rangers 7-9
Laune Rangers Under 15 White team picked up a second consecutive local derby win on Wednesday evening, defeating Milltown/Castlemaine in Paddy Burke Park in Division 2 of the Central Region Competition.
A goal separated the sides at the first water break, as goals by Cathal Moroney and Stevie Gannon and points by Ryan Carey and Gannon saw Rangers leading by 2-2 to 1-2.
Milltown/Castlemaine scored a pointed free, but three further goals by Stevie Gannon put Rangers in command. Ryan Carey and Gannon added further points to match a brace by the home side to leave Rangers with a strong lead at the break. Half Time Score:- Milltown/Castlemaine 1-5, Laune Rangers 5-4.
Laune Rangers kept their hosts at arms reach for the remainder of the game. Seánie Diggin (2), Alex Garry, & Cathal Moroney added points while Eoin O’Connell hit the net for another goal to leave Rangers leading 6-8 to 1-8 at the second water break.
The home side missed a penalty, but scored a second goal not long afterwards, as a black card saw Rangers down to 14 for the remainder of the game. However, Eoin O’Connell scored his second goal and another Seánie Diggin point saw Rangers close the game out as comfortable winners.
