Ballylongford 1-9, Laune Rangers B 4-20
After a bye week in Round 2, Laune Rangers’ second team travelled to Ballylongford on Easter Sunday afternoon in search of their first win of the campaign, after sharing a draw with Finuge at home on the opening day. An excellent performance saw Laune Rangers to a comfortable victory against their North Kerry opponents.
Laune Rangers struck for a goal straight from the throw in, as Tom Whittleton claimed the ball at midfield before feeding it forward through Gabe Griffin and on to Gavin O’Shea who finished to the net. Ballylongford responded well though, rattling the woodwork with a goal chance with their first attack. After Gavin O’Shea had added a point for Laune Rangers, the home side hit the net themselves for a goal.
Laune Rangers took over from this point though, as Tom Whittleton & Gabe Griffin drove their team forward. Gabe Griffin (2) and Cian O’Shea added points for the visitors while Ballylongford added a point of their own to leave the away side leading by 1-4 to 1-1 with fifteen minutes played.
Laune Rangers extended their lead in the second quarter. Gabriel Griffin and O’Shea brothers Gavin & Cian all added to their tallies while the hosts kicked two at the other end. After Cillian Foley had a shot at goal saved, Laune Rangers closed out the half in fine fashion with Daragh O’Connor kicking an excellent point before Gabe Griffin scored his team’s second goal. Griffin added a point to leave Laune Rangers ahead by nine at the break.

Cian O’Shea & Tom Whittleton finished their respective goals with great poise. Gavin O’Shea (2) & Cian O’Shea (free) added points as Rangers rang the changes, while Ballylongford added three points of their own to leave Laune Rangers leading by 4-13 to 1-6 with a quarter remaining.
