Laune Rangers Senior ladies took on Ballyduff in Round Two of Donal Curtin Cup in JP O Sullivan Park on Saturday afternoon. This game was played in lovely conditions. The visitors were without a number of players and as a result this game was played at 13 a-side. Laune Rangers started the brighter and quickly got into their stride and built up an early lead, thanks to two early goals. Ballyduff struggled to cope with the pace and movement of the Laune Ranger’s players and some great play resulted in excellent points. This was helped by some brilliant kick passing. This all lead to Rangers going in at half time leading 2-13 to 2 points.
At Half Time Laune Rangers made substitutions, but lost no momentum in the process. They continued to move the ball at pace and they added 1-06 to their score in the second half while only conceding a goal at the other end.
This was a great team performance with Laune Rangers showing off an array of skills throughout the game, with some fantastic scores and moves. The defence gave away nothing easy and worked really hard to keep the score down, our midfield contributed very well in both defence and offence. While as the score suggests our forwards were very efficient on the day.
It was also great to get Lucy O Donnell back for her first game this year and the squad’s youngest player Áine Hassett came on to get her first score at senior level.
