Glenflesk B 1-7, Laune Rangers B 0-17
Laune Rangers B defeated their Glenflesk counterparts on Friday evening in Phase 2 of the County SFL Division 5 in Glenflesk.
Laune Rangers built up a seven point lead with a slight breeze at their backs in the first half. An early pointed mark by Darragh O’Grady was soon followed by a Cian O’Shea point, but scores were sparce for the remainder of the first quarter. Glenflesk opened their account with a point, but two pointed frees by Cian O’Shea saw Laune Rangers leading by 0-4 to 0-1 with fifteen minutes played.
While Glenflesk missed a few scoring chances with wides and due to some astute defending by the visiting backs, Laune Rangers were far more efficient in attack. Darragh O’Grady (2, 1mk), Patrick Daly and O’Shea brothers Gavin & Cian scored points to extend the lead, while Glenflesk claimed one back with a point just before the break.

Although they were now playing against the light breeze, Laune Rangers picked up where they left off and pointed through Gavin O’Shea & Adam Owens, while Mikey O’Donnell saw his shot at goal hit the bar.
Glenflesk were much better in the second half after this though. They followed a pointed free with one from play before Patrick Daly slotted a free of his own. Glenflesk pointed a free and, after Darragh O’Grady had hit the post with a shot at goal, Patrick Daly added a pointed free for Rangers.
Another pointed free by the hosts left Laune Rangers leading by 0-13 to 0-6 with fifteen minutes remaining.
Both sides made substitutions as Glenflesk were trying to get back into the game. Patrick Daly pointed a free to nullify one at the other end, but Glenflesk struck for the only goal of the game to give them hope – the hosts now trailing by four with 12 minutes to play.
Laune Rangers managed the game out from here though, Patrick Daly, Darragh O’Grady (free) and Mikey O’Donnell all pointing to effectively cancel out the conceded goal, while the O’Donnell point also meant that all the starting forwards scored from play.
