Match Report

Keel/Listry 0-8, Laune Rangers 1-9

Still without a host of injured players, Laune Rangers Minor boys got the better of Keel/Listry in Listry on Saturday afternoon in the County Minor League Division 1.

The hosts got off to a flying start and led by 0-3 to 0-1 in the early minutes, as Charlie O’Sullivan struck a super 45’ for the Laune Rangers score.  Liam O’Connell added another point but Keel/Listry replied with three more to extend their lead.  A John Horgan free made the score 0-6 to 0-3 but Laune Rangers would be level by Half Time.

Some great work by John Horgan & James Jones put the latter through on goal and, after the ball had been knocked loose by a defender, Jones crossed the ball across the square and the outstretched Bryan McKenna tapped it to the net.

Half Time Score:- Keel/Listry 0-6, Laune Rangers 1-3.

Bryan McKenna pointed a free to give Laune Rangers their first lead, but it was soon cancelled out by the home side.  Laune Rangers were awarded a penalty when Bryan McKenna was fouled in front of goal, but James Jones’ spot kick went just outside the post.

Keel/Listry regained the lead with an excellent point, but they would score no more as Laune Rangers defence were outstanding for the rest of the game.  A pointed mark by Bryan McKenna levelled the game, before he added a free to give his side a 1-6 to 0-8 lead with fifteen minutes remaining.

Bryan McKenna & John Horgan (free) put Laune Rangers three ahead and, after the defence had held the home side out for long spells, Laune Rangers broke downfield and won a late free – John Horgan tapping it over to give his side an unassailable lead.
