Laune Rangers B: 2-11

St. Pat’s Blennerville: 0-14

 

In a sun-soaked JP O’Sullivan Park, Laune Rangers Development team played St Pat’s Blennerville on Saturday evening. St Pat’s opened the scoring on 4 minutes with Laune Rangers levelling few moments later after a well worked move following good defending by Cathal O’Callaghan who found Seanie Diggin and in turn passed off to Morgan to finish the move. St Pat’s full forward Greaney kicked a point to move one ahead. A spate of injuries for the home team saw Eoin Lynch making his return to senior football 10 minutes into first half when Joe O’Neill picked up an injury, 5 minutes later Jack Healy was introduced for Ronan O’Shea picking up an injury also. Patryk Radny who was making his first appearance on the senior team, kicked the next score to level the game.  St Pat’s converted a 45 after Adam Carey pulled off a great save. Darragh O’Grady then kicked Laune Rangers next point to level the game for third time. St Pat’s danger man Eoin Greaney kicked another from play but on the stroke of half time Mikey O’Donnell kicked the final score of the half with both sides level at short whistle.

Roan Moriarty opened the scoring for the second half with long distance point, and St Pat’s Eoin Greaney quickly replied with a point of their own with both sides level again. Callum Russell won possession for Laune Rangers who were now pushing up on St Pat’s kickouts and broke forward with pace and found his teammate Morgan O’Sullivan who finished into back of St Pat’s net to put the home team into a 3 point lead. Laune Rangers now well in control scored further points from Ciarán O’Sullivan and Seanie Diggin. St Pat’s to their credit didn’t throw in the towel and replied with 2 points from boot of Eoin Greaney. The home side kicked the next two scores by Darragh O’Grady – both from play. St Pat’s kicked another 3 points from play to reduce the home sides lead to 2 points. The crucial score came from Seanie Diggin who blasted the ball into the top corner after another fast attack from Laune Rangers who won possession from their own kickout. St Pat’s replied with a point, but Seanie Diggin won a free that he converted himself. St Pats who were in need of a goal, went on the attack but Laune Rangers defence worked hard and a 45 was awarded to visitors which they converted but the final score of the game came from the boot of Eoghan Joy with the home side winning by 3 points.
