Laune Rangers 3-12

Dr Crokes 2-11

Laune Rangers booked their place in the Keane’s SuperValu County Minor Club Chamionship A Final with victory over Dr Crokes in an exciting Semi Final in Killorglin on Monday evening.

Little could separate the sides in the opening minutes as a Jamie Flynn point was cancelled out by Crokes before Tomás Joy pointed a free.  Dr Crokes snatched the lead with the opening goal of the game – a close range palmed shot to the net – and followed it up with a point.

However, Laune Rangers responded well and points from Adam O’Neill  (free) & Jamie Flynn were followed by a Jamie Flynn goal to give Laune Rangers the lead with sixteen minutes played – Flynn linking up with Adam O’Neill before slotting the ball to the net.

A Dr Crokes free left them trailing by one, but Laune Rangers were soon to increase that lead.  Oran O’Sullivan & Colm Evans struck points before Evans intercepted the resulting kickout & fed Adam O’Neill who struck the net under heavy pressure.

Dr Crokes pointed a free but it was nullified by an Adam O’Neill point to give Laune Rangers the lead by six at the break.

Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 2-7, Dr Crokes 1-4.

Dr Crokes halved their deficit with three points at the beginning of the second half and, after Colm Evans had pointed at the other end, the visitors struck for their second goal and were just a point behind.

Oran O’Sullivan scored a super point for Laune Rangers before Dr Crokes replied with another, before the fifth goal of the game fell the way of Laune Rangers & midfielder Charlie O’Sullivan who finished a clever run with a deft finish to the net, giving Laune Rangers a four point cushion with fifteen minutes to play.

Colm Evans & Tomás Joy added points to extend the lead, but Dr Crokes were not finished yet.   Three consecutive points left a goal between the sides before they were awarded a penalty in the 60th minute.  However, Adam Radny pulled off a great save to keep his side in front, and a late Adam O’Neill free made sure of the win.
