Opening game of Group 4 in Keane’s SuperValu sponsored Minor County Championship, John Mitchels opened the scoring this evening with a point from play and Adam O’Neill levelled moments later with a point from play. Tomás Joy then converted a free and kicked a well taken goal. Laune Rangers kicked another two points before John Mitchels scored again. Adam O’Neill added another for Laune Rangers and Gearoid White kicked two in succession for John Mitchels. Adam O’Neill converted a point for Laune Rangers, but John Mitchels went on to score 3 additional points before short whistle.
Half-Time: Laune Rangers 1-6, John Mitchels 0-7
Laune Rangers opened the second half with a converted free by Tomás Joy. John Mitchels then added another point. Adam O’Neill kicked a point from play. But John Mitchels working hard, kicked a point and Gearóid White scored a goal and kicked a point to go a point ahead. Adam O’Neill then kicked two points for Laune Rangers, one from a placed ball. Adam O’Neill went forward again for Rangers for the goal shot to hit the post and Jamie Flynn caught the rebound and it hit the post again and Mitchels cleared the ball. John Mitchels Jim O’Dowd then had a goal shot saved at the opposite end and went out for a 45’. Laune Rangers were then awarded a penalty and Adam O’Neill converted, giving Rangers the advantage by 3 points. John Mitchels kicked another point trying to get back in front, however Adam O’Neill and Pat O’Donnell and John Horgan kicked points for Laune Rangers, Bryan McKenna added his name to Laune Rangers scorers with a point from play. John Mitchels scored from play and Charlie O’Sullivan added another point for the home side. John Mitchels full forward Adrian Molloy kicked the final point of the game for John Mitchels.
