Laune Rangers Minor Team vs South Kerry

Laune Rangers 3-10, South Kerry 2-10

Laune Rangers will contest the Final of the County Minor Shield following defeat of South Kerry in Beaufort on Monday evening.

The sides were level through the first quarter as an early Adam O’Neill goal and Jamie Flynn point were matched by four South Kerry points.  Adam O’Neill added three more points (one free) in the second quarter while Oran O’Sullivan kicked another, although South Kerry kicked another three at the other end to leave Laune Rangers ahead by the minimum at the break.

Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 1-5, South Kerry 0-7.

Patrick O’Donnell & Bryan McKenna pointed to increase the Laune Rangers lead early in the second half, but South Kerry soon levelled matters with their first goal.  The Divisional side were on top at this point and took the lead for the first time with a couple of points.  Adam Radny pulled off a great save but the ball wasn’t cleared to safety, & South Kerry struck the net at the second attempt to take a 2-9 to 1-7 lead with fifteen minutes remaining.

Laune Rangers kept plugging away and, after Bryan McKenna & Adam O’Neill (free) reduced arrears to three.  The equalizing goal was struck by Adam O’Neill, before Laune Rangers intercepted a South Kerry attack to counter-attack & put Bryan McKenna through on goal, and he made no mistake with the finish to win the game for the Killorglin men.  Laune Rangers shut out the South Kerry attack for the last five minutes to book their place in the Minor Shield Final.
