The ladies set off for Abbeydorney for the second time in month for Quarter Final Stage of Junior A Championship. The ladies knew Abbeydorney were going to be fired up to meet Laune Rangers again after Laune Rangers beat them in the Club League Final on August 13th. Abbeydorney set a fast physical pace from the start and Laune Rangers conceded 3 goals in the opening 10 minutes. The ladies settled and got stuck in and kicked a few nice scores to narrow the gap. Just before half time though Abbeydorney secured additional scores to widen the gap. Halftime: Abbeydorney 5-9, Laune Rangers 1-5
Throughout the second half, the ladies battled hard and continued to breakdown Abbeydorney defence, but they proved physically stronger than us on the day.
Fulltime: Abbeydorney 6-8, Laune Rangers 2-9
To credit the ladies, they were not found wanting and each gave their all throughout the season. Well to the team and management for their hard work and commitment all year. A year of football is not determined by one game. To say the club are proud of both girls and management is an understatement as Laune Rangers bow out of the championship at this stage, there are plenty of days to look forward to with this squad. Best of luck to Abbeydorney and the other teams that have qualified for semi-final stage.
