Laune Rangers 0-12, Kilcummin 0-12
Having won their opening game in Glenbeigh a fortnight ago, Laune Rangers ended their first home game in the County Senior Football League campaign with a hard-fought draw against Kilcummin in Killorglin on Saturday evening, as a late surge earned them a share of the spoils.
The absentee list was added to in the opening seconds of the game as Eoin O’Sullivan suffered an arm injury at the throw in. It was a tight and competitive first half, with both sides finding their rhythm early on. Stephen Gannon kicked three points from play, while Eoin Clifford and Darragh Clifford also raised white flags for the home side.
However, the half ended with Laune Rangers down to 14 men following a red card for John Tyther. Kilcummin made the most of the numerical advantage, edging ahead by two at the break although Paul O’Shea was black carded to temporarily restore parity in personnel.
Half Time Score: – Laune Rangers 0-5, Kilcummin 0-7
Laune Rangers had the benefit of the slight breeze in the second half. Shane Daly & Darragh Clifford (from both play and frees), brought them back into contention. Kilcummin continued to apply pressure and kept their noses in front for much of the half but crucially received a black card to substitute Oisín O’Leary late on.
With time running out, it was Darragh Clifford who stepped up with two superb two-point frees in the closing minutes – including one with the final kick of the game – to level matters at 0-12 apiece.
