The visitors started strong with a goal scored in the opening minute by Seanie Diggin. It was 20 minutes before Laune Rangers scored again – Ronan O’Shea with a free. Lispole using the wind to assist them, added to their tally closing out the first half with a flurry of scores, to put them in control at half time.
Half Time Score: Lispole 3-11 (20), Laune Rangers 1-1 (4)
Laune Rangers started the second half with tenacity, but Lispole added 2 points in quick succession. Conor Buckley who was having a busy day in goals pulled off a great save to deny Aaron Ó’Muircheartaigh a certain goal. To Laune Rangers credit, they slowly worked their way back to into the game – Gavin O’Shea kicked a two-pointer from play, and Marc Clifford added a free but Lispole cancelled this with a free of their own from Cormac O’Cinnéide. Ronan O’Shea kicked 2 two-pointers – one from play and the other a free – Laune Rangers now working extremely hard to reduce Lispole’s lead with 15 minutes remaining and with their defence now on top to curtail Lispole attacks Rangers used the wind to their advantage to clear their lines quickly, in one of those attacks Gavin O’Shea added his second two-pointer but Lispole Cormac O’Cinnéide added point from play. Marc Clifford kicked a high ball into Lispole goal from just outside the arc but Lispole’s goalie misread the ball and the ball ended in the back of Lispole’s net. Gavin O’Shea added his third two-pointer of the day, and this was Laune Rangers last score, Cian Ó’Cinnéide kicked a two-pointer and Declan O’Sullivan kicked Lispole’s last score of the day. Laune Rangers outscored Lispole in the second half but the lead Lispole gained in the first half was just too great.
