Laune Rangers 0-19, Glenflesk 1-17
Laune Rangers pointed twice in the opening two minutes through John Tyther (free) and Darragh Clifford, but an Emmet Finnan goal soon gave the visitors the lead. Jeff O’Donoghue added a super two pointer from play to extend the Glenflesk lead, but Laune Rangers settled again. John Tyther pointed a pair of frees while Jason Browne was called into action at the other end to save from a Cian Lynch shot. Darragh Clifford & Gavin O’Shea pointed for the hosts but Cian Horan replied with a point to level matters at 0-6 to 1-3 with fifteen minutes played.
Stephen Gannon & Shane Daly pointed Rangers ahead before Darragh Roche slotted a free, but Daly added another for Rangers in quick reply. A pair of Jeff O’Donoghue points levelled scores again but Jason Browne slotted a 45 to give Laune Rangers the lead, before John Tyther (free) & Stephen Gannon extended it to three points at the break.
Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 0-12, Glenflesk 1-6.
Glenflesk were level by the 40th minute as Jeff O’Donoghue (free), Dylan Roche & Darragh Roche (two frees) pointed with John Tyther slotting a free at the other end. Substitutes John Kelliher & Seán Doherty put Glenflesk two ahead temporarily but a Darragh Clifford brace had scores level at 0-15 to 1-12 with a quarter of the game to play.
Ciarán O’Sullivan restored the Laune Rangers lead before John Tyther nailed a two point free. Darragh Roche & John Tyther exchanged frees before Roche forced Jason Browne into another great save. Darragh Roche reduced the deficit to two with another free as the clock rolled into injury time.
There was plenty of time for more drama. As Stephen Gannon kicked the ball between the posts to extend the lead, the whistle was blown to signify Laune Rangers had breached the “three up” rule and the score was not counted.
Once it became clear Laune Rangers hadn’t infringed, the ball was brought back into play with a throw in – the original score still ruled out. Glenflesk won the throw and quickly moved the ball downfield before Darragh Roche slotted a free to leave his side trailing by one.
Then, with the last kick of the game, goalkeeper Marc Kelliher struck from nearly 50 metres to spilt the posts for a crucial two point score to snatch the win & both league points.
