Laune Rangers 1-13, Kerins O’Rahilly 1-13

Laune Rangers and Kerins O’Rahillys played out a thrilling draw in this Round 6 Division 1 clash on Sunday afternoon, with both sides having their moments in a tightly contested encounter in Killorglin.

It was the visitors who got off the mark first, with Jack Savage converting an early free. Daire Cleary replied for the home side with a well-taken score from play before Gearoid Hassett edged them ahead with a point from a 45. Kerins O’Rahillys responded with a spell of pressure, scoring through Tom Hoare and Conor O’Sullivan.

The first major of the day came midway through the first half when Daniel Bowler found the net for the Tralee side to put them in front, and Jake Foley added another point soon after to stretch their lead.

Laune Rangers kept in touch with points from Patrick Daly and John Tyther – the latter proving accurate from both play and placed balls. Calum Moriarty then burst through to fire to the net for the Killorglin men, briefly giving them momentum. However, Barry John Keane’s two-point effort late in the half gave Kerins O’Rahillys a slender advantage at the break.

Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 1-13, Kerins O’Rahilly 1-13.

The second half saw a flurry of scores and no shortage of drama. Tyther again led the scoring charge for Laune Rangers with a string of frees, including a two-point effort early in the half. But the task was made more difficult when Shane Daly was dismissed for a second yellow card in the 41st minute.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Laune Rangers continued to fight, with further points from Daire Cleary, substitute Patryk Radny and Tyther again bringing them back into contention.

Kerins O’Rahillys, though, kept the scoreboard ticking over, mainly through the boot of Jack Savage, who was reliable from placed balls, and Barry John Keane and Conor O’Sullivan who added key scores from play.

With both sides exchanging scores in the final minutes, there was little to separate them. Laune Rangers showed impressive spirit to claw their way back, and the final whistle confirmed a share of the spoils/
