Killarney Legion 0-13, Laune Rangers 0-13
Spoils were shared in Killarney on Saturday evening as a late surge by home side Legion reeled in Laune Rangers in an entertaining game in the County Senior Football League Division 1.
Laune Rangers were the better side in the opening half and led by five by half-time. Eoin Clifford opened the scoring in the second minute and added another later, while Gearóid Hassett impressed with four points from play before the break. John Tyther and Dáire Cleary also chipped in as Rangers built a 0-9 to 0-4 advantage.
Legion kept themselves in the game with efforts from Josh Bowler, Finbarr Murphy, and frees from David O’Sullivan and Ryan O’Grady.
Half Time Score: – Killarney Legion 0-4, Laune Rangers 0-9.
After the restart, Legion came out with more urgency. Bowler’s point reduced the gap before Tyther responded with a free for the visitors. The home side grew into the game as O’Sullivan and Bowler added further scores, and gradually the gap began to close.
Laune Rangers looked to have done enough when Clifford, Tyther and Darragh Clifford added second-half points to push them six clear heading into the closing minutes. However, Legion had different ideas.
Ryan O’Grady hit two crucial two-pointers from placed balls to cut the deficit to two, and then Shaun Keane popped up with a brilliant equalising two-point effort with the last kick of the game to snatch a draw.
