Match Report

Keel 0-10, Laune Rangers 1-9
Laune Rangers made the trip to Keel on Tuesday evening and came away with a 1-9 to 0-10 victory in the opening round of the Mid Kerry Junior League.
Keel opened the scoring with a point from play in the sixth minute, but Laune Rangers responded in emphatic fashion when Adam Owens confidently dispatched a penalty to the net in the ninth minute. Owens added a well-taken point from play soon after, putting the visitors ahead. However, Keel grew into the game as the half wore on, reeling off four points without reply but missed a host of chances also.  Adam Owens had the final say in the first half, slotting over his second point of the evening as the sides went into the break all square.
Half Time Score:- Keel 0-15, Laune Rangers 1-2.
Laune Rangers came out with renewed intensity after the restart. Morgan O’Sullivan quickly brought the sides level with a tidy point, before Cian O’Shea announced himself with a brilliant two-point score from play that pushed Rangers ahead. Keel hit back with three consecutive points from frees to regain the lead, but Laune Rangers didn’t panic.
O’Shea continued to be a thorn in the side of the Keel defence, clipping over a fine point from play before converting three frees in succession as Rangers regained control heading into the final stages. Keel responded with two late scores, but another O’Shea free ensured Laune Rangers kept their noses in front.
The final whistle came shortly after a tense closing few minutes, with Laune Rangers holding out for a two-point win.
