Laune Rangers 2-16, Ballymacelligott 1-14

Laune Rangers claimed a hard-fought win over Ballymacelligott in County Senior Football League Division 1 on Sunday afternoon.

The game was finely balanced at half-time, with Laune Rangers just edging it by a point thanks to a penalty goal from John Tyther.

Both sides traded early points, with Darragh Clifford, John Tyther and Darragh O’Grady getting on the board for the Rangers, while Ballymac replied through Mairtin McIvergan, Aidan Breen and Donal Daly—who also struck a two-pointer.

Tyther’s penalty on 12 minutes gave Rangers the edge, and further scores from Stephen Gannon and Eoin Clifford kept them in front, though Ballymac stayed in touch with points from Niall Collins and Jack Joy.

Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 1-7, Ballymacelligott 0-9.

The second half saw Laune Rangers up the tempo. Darragh Clifford and Eoin Clifford pointed either side of another John Tyther free before Dáire Cleary finished a flowing move with a well-taken goal on 46 minutes to give the Killorglin men breathing space.

Tyther added a two-pointer from a free and continued his scoring spree with a string of late points. Gearóid Hassett and Stephen Gannon also chipped in during a strong closing spell.

Ballymac battled to the end and were rewarded with a goal from Niall Collins deep in injury time, but it wasn’t enough to close the gap as Laune Rangers ran out five-point winners.
