Laune Rangers 2-10, Finuge/St Senans 0-9
Laune Rangers secured their place in the Donal Curtin Cup Final with a solid performance against Finuge/St Senans in Killorglin on Monday evening.
A quick start saw Rangers race into an early lead, with points from Fodhla Houlihan and Ailbhe Clifford in the opening minute. Nicole Moriarty added another before Houlihan struck for her first goal of the evening to push the hosts further in front.
Houlihan continued to cause problems for the Finuge/St Senans defence, adding another point before finding the net again in the 13th minute. Nicole Moriarty chipped in with two frees and a fine point from play, while Finuge/St Senans kept themselves in the contest through Miriam O’Keeffe.
Laune Rangers led 2-7 to 0-7 at the break.
The second half was a tighter affair, with defences on top. Goal chances were spurned by both sides – the crossbar denying Laune Rangers before Sarah O’Connor made a great save at the other end, and while Miriam O’Keeffe continued to score, they couldn’t find the breakthrough they needed.
Rangers responded well, with points from Rachael Evans, Nicole Moriarty and Houlihan again to keep their noses in front. Substitutions followed as both sides looked to finish strongly, but it was the Killorglin side who held firm to close out a seven-point victory.
