Laune Rangers played a strong MKL Gaels side on Monday 14th July. It was 5 mins before the first score was registered with Aine Hassett converting a free following by Fodhla Houlihan with a free also. MKL’s Sarah Fitzgerald added MKL opening score from a well taken free. Laune Rangers Fodhla Houlihan added a point from a free. MKL Gaels added a point from play in the midst of a heavy shower. Aine Hassett kicked a point from a free while MKL Gaels kicked a score with Sarah O’Connor getting a hand to punch over the bar. Aine Hassett added another her free to her tally in the first half and again MKL on the attack had goalie Sarah O’Connor pulling off another save. Closing out the first half MKL added 3 points – 2 were frees and Tirna Murphy kicked from play and on the other side of the field Laura Patton pulled off a great save catching a high ball launched in in a MKL attack.

Laune Rangers opened the second half with a point from play from the boot of Aine Hassett which levelled the game. MKL responded with a point from play and point from a free. Laune Rangers Fodhla Houlihan kicked a free but again MKL responded strongly Liath Lenihan (point from play) and Chloe McHugh (goal) and MKL also kicked a free – leading by 6 points at midpoint of second half. Rachael Evans pushing her team on – kicked a fine point from play. But MKL had found their rhythm and even though Laune Rangers backs were working hard but they found the MKL attacks hard to contain as they added another point (Tirna Murphy) and goal (Liath Lenihan). In the closing minutes MKL’s Elle Mai Nugent scored a goal and a pointed free while Laune Rangers Fodhla Houlihan converted a free.
Laune Rangers will regroup for their next home game next Monday 21st July.
