UNDER 15 GIRLS

Laune Rangers and Kerins O’Rahillys will have to do it all over again after their U15 Girls D Championship Semi Final ended level in JP O’Sullivan Park on Tuesday evening.  After Kerins O’Rahilly’s had pointed to go ahead in the first minute, Áine Hassett registered Rangers first point to level matters.  The Strand Road side kicked the next three points to lead by 0-4 to 0-1 with a quarter of the game played, although they would not score for a long period afterwards as the Laune Rangers defence gained the upper hand led by Meadhbh Brennan and Kate Costello.  Sally McGillycuddy and Áine Hassett (2) pointed to see the sides level at the break.  Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 0-4, Kerins O’Rahillys 0-4.  Áine Hassett nudged Rangers into the lead for the first time & they increased it through Saoirse O’Shea (2 frees) and Sally Mack to lead by 0-8 to 0-4 with fifteen minutes to play.  A point from midfielder Riadh O’Sullivan gave Rangers a five point lead but the visitors began to mount a comeback in the last ten minutes.  Two points were generated from sustained attacking pressure, and as Rangers were finding it difficult to clear their lines, Rahillys broke through and rippled the net to level the game.  The away side pointed to take the lead with two minutes remaining, but Laune Rangers responded well and, after holding possession well in attack, they were eventually fouled for Sarah O’Brien to kick the equalizing pointed free.  The final whistle was blown to see spoils shared and the teams will have to play again.  Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 0-10, Kerins O’Rahillys 1-7.  Laune Rangers:- Leah Russell, Kate Costello, Nicole McCormack, Meadhbh Brennan, Sarah Patton, Jacqueline Owens, Amie Moriarty, Riadh O’Sullivan (0-1), Elmarie Lonergan, Emma O’Sullivan, Sarah O’Brien (0-1f), Sally McGillycuddy (0-2), Áine Hassett (capt, 0-4), Aoife Fenton Toms, Niamh O’Sullivan.  Subs: Saoirse O’Shea (0-2f), Amy Callan, Kate McGeever, Kiri McGrath.
