UNDER 13 BOYS
The Mid Kerry Under 13 A Championship will remain in Killorglin following Laune Rangers’ victory over Keel/Listry in the Final played in Glenbeigh on Saturday afternoon. Laune Rangers took the lead in the first minute with a Conor Murphy point, a lead they would not relinquish for the remainder of the game. Murphy’s midfield partner Mikey Hynes added a point before Laune Rangers scored their first goal through Odhran Foley to lead by five points. Keel/Listry opened their account with a point, and added another soon after, but Laune Rangers continued to press forward and scored pointed frees through Hugh O’Sullivan & Peter O’Shea. Keel/Listry replied with a pointed free of their own, but it was cancelled out by a Mikey Hynes point to leave Laune Rangers leading by 1-5 to 0-3 with a quarter of the game played. Keel/Listry got back into the game with their first goal, following it up with a point a couple of minutes later. Odhran Foley had a shot saved superbly by the Keel/Listry goalkeeper, while the team’s exchanged pointed frees (Hugh O’Sullivan for Rangers) before the short whistle. Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 1-6, Keel/Listry 1-5. Laune Rangers pressed on from the beginning of the second half, with points from Odhran Foley & Mikey Hynes followed by Foley’s second goal and another point by Daragh O’Sullivan to take a commanding lead. Keel/Listry added a well taken point before Conor Murphy scored an excellent point at the other end. Keel/Listry scored an excellent pointed free from the 45’ to leave Laune Rangers leading by 2-10 to 1-7 with a quarter of the game to play. The Keel/Listry goalkeeper pulled off a fantastic double save, denying Odhran Foley and then Liam O’Shea from rattling the net, although Liam O’Shea slotted a point to increase the Rangers lead. Keel/Listry added a well taken point, before the best point of the game was scored by Laune Rangers – Liam O’Shea picking an excellent pass to his brother Peter who split the posts from the tightest of angles. Odhran Foley & Callum Robertson added points before Keel/Listry scored their second goal. That goal was quickly wiped out by a third Laune Rangers goal, and it was Odhran Foley who completed his hat-trick. Keel/Listry scored two late points, but the final whistle was blown to see Laune Rangers claim victory. After the game, Laune Rangers captain Pat Costello accepted the Mid Kerry Under 13 trophy from Mid Kerry Board Chairman Tim Coffey. Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 3-14, Keel/Listry 2-10.
