UNDER 14 GIRLS: Laune Rangers Under 14 Girls White team had a great win on Friday evening last against Currow in Cloon in the Semi Final of the County League Division 6.  That qualified the team for the Final of the competition, which was played in Beaufort on Sunday afternoon against the team from the Kenmare District Inbhear Scéine Gaels.  ISG is made up of players from the Kenmare, Kilgarvan, Templenoe, Tousist & Lauragh area of the County, and the benefit of that was clear to see on the match programme, as they had 31 named on their ‘B’ Panel.  Laune Rangers, in contrast, had a squad of 18 at their disposal.  Early points by Riadh O’Sullivan and Sarah O’Brien (free) had Rangers leading by 0-2 to 0-1 after three minutes.  However, a run of 2-6 unanswered by ISG put them in the driving seat and, while Rangers responded with points from Aisling Dwyer and Riadh O’Sullivan before the latter scored a goal, ISG responded with a goal of their own just before the break.  Half Time Score:- Laune Rangers 1-4, Inbhear Scéine Gaels 3-7.  The last time the sides met, Rangers overturned a 23 point Half time deficit to win.  However, ISG were much stronger for this game, bolstered by a few players that weren’t available before, and they were not going to allow another Rangers comeback.  A pointed free by Sarah O’Brien at the start of the half was eventually cancelled out by a point at the other end just before the water break in a low scoring third quarter.  Aisling Dwyer pointed to cancel out an earlier ISG point before the Kenmare District club struck the final blow with a 4th goal.  Aisling Dwyer scored a late point for Rangers but ISG registered the final point of the game.  Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 1-7, 4-10.  It’s never nice to lose a final, but the manner that the team kept playing and trying until the final whistle is a good omen for next year, as all but one of the squad are still U14 in 2022.  Laune Rangers Team:- Leah Russell, Amy Callan, Sally McGillycuddy, Kate McGeever, Sarah Patton, Jacqueline Owens, Amie Moriarty, Niamh O’Sullivan, Riadh O’Sullivan (1-2), Sadhbh O’Sullivan, Sarah O’Brien (0-2f), Saoirse O’Shea, Erin Dwyer, Aisling Dwyer (0-3), Aoibhin O’Sullivan.  Subs: Sophie Donnolly, Anna O’Donnell, Zoe Conway

UNDER 14 GIRLS FIXTURE: Laune Rangers will take on Inbhearr Scéine Gaels on Sunday in the Division 6 Final.  The game is fixed for tomorrow (Sunday), with no venue or time confirmed yet.

UNDER 13 BOYS: A warm and close August evening greeted the visitors for this satisfying win by Laune Rangers Blue team which was a fitting cap to the end of Phase 2 matches.  The display was marked by the spread of scorers with 8 team members on the score sheet.   The first quarter was evenly matched 1-4 to 1-4 but Laune Rangers began to edge away after the first waterbreak.   Luke Carey’s kickouts regularly found Liam O’Connell.  Jamie Flynn was causing the visitors’ back line havoc and Adam Radny did well in the half back line.  A quick 1-4  before the break gave Laune Rangers a four point lead (2-10 to 2-6). Laune Rangers began to dominate in the third quarter with some fine blocks by Ciarán Birmingham and good interceptions by Donnacha Prendiville.  Colm Evans scored an impressive goal to add his own points tally to put the home team with a strong advantage going into the final quarter.  Rathmore battled on but a come back never materialized assisted by quality saves and a resolute backline .  The final score line reflected the great work rate and team spirit, with a particular mention for an on-form Jamie Flynn scoring an impressive 3-4 from play.  Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 5-16, Rathmore 3-11.  Laune Rangers Blue Team. Luke Carey, Charlie Foley, Daniel Kelly, Hugh O’Sullivan, Conor Sheehan, Adam Radny, Bryan McKenna (0-2), Tomás Joy (1-2), Callum Robinson (0-1), Donnacha Prendiville, Liam O’Connell, Ciarán Birmingham (0-2) Odhran Foley (0-1), Colm Evans (1-3), Jamie Flynn (3-4).  Substitutes.  Mikey Hynes, Fionn McGillycuddy, Conor Murphy (0-1).
