UNDER 15 BOYS BLUE: Laune Rangers drew with Kenmare Shamrocks away from home on Thursday evening last, but what proved to be one of the games of the year didn’t give Rangers the win required to stay in the hunt for the County Division 1 title. UNDER 15 BOYS WHITE: The second teams of both Laune Rangers and Kenmare Shamrocks served up a fantastic game on Wednesday evening in JP O’Sullivan Park, with the visitors coming out on top by five points in the end. GAELIC4TEENS: As part of the Gaelic 4 Teens initiative, Laune Rangers Under 16 and Under 14 Girls travelled to Abbotstown in Dublin on Saturday last to take part in a blitz against participating clubs from all over Ireland. The rainy weather didn’t dampen the spirits of the players who, along with their coaches, had a great day!
UNDER 15 BOYS FÉILE: Laune Rangers defeated Killarney Legion in the first game of Group A – a three team group also containing Austin Stacks that would see two go through to the Division 1 Semi Finals on Monday. Goals by Bryan McKenna, Alex Garry & Jamie Flynn, added to points by the same three along with Colm Evans (2), John Horgan (2), Aaron Doyle (2) and Adam O’Neill to see Rangers win by an eight point margin. Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 3-10, Killarney Legion 2-5. Laune Rangers then had the quick turnaround to take on Austin Stacks in the second game. Austin Stacks led by 0-8 to 0-3 at half time, but a black card for a high tackle by Aaron Doyle proved costly as he spent most of the second half in the sin bin. Austin Stacks went on to record a comfortable victory with a man advantage, as a John Horgan point was added to the earlier points by Horgan, Patrick O’Donnell & Adam O’Neill. Full Time Score:- Laune Rangers 0-4, Austin Stacks 2-14. Game three saw Austin Stacks defeat Killarney Legion. Full Time Score:- Austin Stacks 7-6, Killarney Legion 3-3. Austin Stacks topped Group A with Laune Rangers finishing as runner up, as both teams progressed to contest the County Féile Semi Finals on Monday. The Semi Final was contested between Ballymacelligott and Laune Rangers, and it took extra time to separate the sides, with goals from Charlie O’Sullivan and James Jones (pen) saw the sides level at 2-5 a piece after the 30 minute match. In the extra 10 minutes, Ballymac scored 1-2 without reply to qualify for the Final, where they were defeated by Austin Stacks. UNDER 15 GIRLS FÉILE: Having defeated Finuge/St Senans and losing to Kerin’s O’Rahilly’s in the group stage of the Féile competition on Monday afternoon, Laune Rangers came up against the hosts Kerin’s O’Rahillys again in the Final in Pat Healy Park, Ballyrickard. Trailing by a goal late in the final, Laune Rangers were chasing a leveller, but conceded another goal to see the home side secure victory.
UNDER 13 BOYS FIXTURES: Laune Rangers Blue team final game in Phase 1 of Division 1 vs Spa Killarney takes place on Sunday, May 8th in JP O’Sullivan Park.
UNDER 12 GIRLS: Well done to the Under 12 Girls White team who had a great win against a strong Spa GAA B’s team in the B Final of group 4 of the South Kerry U12 Girls League. Next up for both the Blue and White teams is the County League which will commence in the next 2 weeks..
UNDER 11 BOYS: Laune Rangers are competing in the Joe O’Connor/Tony Brosnan group of the County Under 11 Go Games this season. Round 3 took place last Thursday eve at home to John Mitchels.
